Chess Spectacle: International Students from Our University Won the Team Championship in the Liaoning University Students' Chess Championship

On December 8th, 2024, the Liaoning University Students' Chess Championship, hosted by the Liaoning Sports Bureau, concluded successfully in Panjin City. This competition attracted the participation of Chinese and foreign university student chess players from multiple institutions within Liaoning Province. For the first time, four international students from our university teamed up with three undergraduate students to represent the school in the competition, achieving outstanding results, including the first place in the overall team ranking, the first place in the international student group, and the second, third, and fifth places in the individual male international student group.

This championship was not only a competition of chess skills but also a platform for cultural exchange. Chinese and foreign students not only demonstrated their chess abilities during the event but also engaged in in-depth exchanges and interactions with players from diverse cultural backgrounds through the common language of chess. The participation of international students added an international flavor to the competition and promoted the diversified development of the chess sport among university students in Liaoning Province.

After the competition, our school's contestant, Aliba, said, "I am very honored to represent the school in such a high-level competition and achieve a ranking. This is not only an affirmation of my chess skills but also a recognition of my learning and living experiences in Liaoning." Contestant Shahapour also excitedly said, "Chess is a language that transcends national boundaries. It has allowed me to make many Chinese friends and made me love this land even more."


With the conclusion of the award ceremony, the Liaoning University Students' Chess Championship came to a successful end. The participating international students expressed that they felt honored and proud to represent the school together with Chinese classmates, and they would continue to strive to win more honors for the school.
